This Thanksgiving, I’m feeling especially blessed. Last year, I was sick, and honestly, I don’t remember much from this time - it’s all a blur. But this year? I’m here, I’m present, and that’s a gift I don’t take for granted.
We don’t often talk about what it feels like to come out on the other side of something difficult. Life keeps moving, social media fills with picture-perfect moments, and we quietly carry the weight of what we’ve been through.
The Power of Grace and Gratitude
Here’s what I’ve learned: grace and gratitude go hand in hand.
Grace reminds us to honor where we’ve been and the strength it took to get through it.
Gratitude teaches us to treasure where we are now, even in the messiness of life.
Today, I’m soaking in every laugh, every hug, and yes, even the crumbs my kids leave all over the floor - because I’m here.
Ground Yourself in Grace and Gratitude
If you’ve had a tough season or a blur of a year, take a moment for yourself today. Here’s how you can ground yourself in grace and gratitude:
1. Practice Anchor Gratitude
Focus on one specific moment or person from this Thanksgiving that made you smile. Neuroscience shows that gratitude is most powerful when it’s specific - it creates a lasting positive impact on your brain.
2. Honor Your Journey
Take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come since last year. Even if your progress feels small, acknowledge it. Celebrate the strength it took to move forward - your brain thrives when you recognize growth, not just outcomes.
3. Pause Before You Compare
Social media will be flooded with picture-perfect highlights today. Remind yourself that those snapshots are just one piece of someone’s bigger story. Grace means giving yourself permission to feel however you feel, without judgment.
This morning, I’m wide smiling because this year, I’m overflowing with gratitude.
If You’re Still Finding Your Way Back to Joy
If you’re still navigating a tough season, know that it’s okay to take it one step at a time. Grace is waiting for you.
